For startups
Sustainable from day one.
Your first corporate customer sends a supplier questionnaire, your investor asks for ESG data. With ZEROvia you are prepared before the question arrives. Up to three years after founding, the ESG self-assessment & profile is free.
Your dataset
What your customer sees
Example. Switch sections on and off per customer. Without sharing, a buyer only sees your public profile. Data instead of a rating: no score, no medal.
Why now
Startups get asked earlier.
The first corporate customer
In supplier onboarding, corporates ask about policies, codes of conduct and key figures. From financial year 2027, CSRD companies will follow the voluntary EU standard for this.
Value-chain cap explainedYour investors
Funds report on sustainability themselves and need data from their portfolio companies for this. KfW Capital, for example, has required annual sustainability data per portfolio company from VC funds since 2023.
Your own standards
What you build into processes early, you do not have to rebuild later. A substantiated dataset grows with you, from your first customer to your own supply chain.
What startups really need
Four things are enough at the start. An own standard is not one of them.
No CSRD report, no self-invented measurement standard. What customers and investors want to know at the start can be substantiated with little effort.
1 · Basic dataset
Substantiated data instead of a report
Company data, policies, code of conduct and energy, organised according to the VSME basic module. This answers most onboarding questions. You usually do not need a sustainability report: the CSRD will in future only apply to companies with more than 1,000 employees.
2 · Small carbon footprint
Scope 1 and 2, plus a screening
Electricity, heating and vehicles in Scope 1 and 2. Software and cloud belong in Scope 3, category 1 (purchased services), laptops and servers depending on how they are booked, in category 1 or 2 (capital goods).
3 · Existing standards
Measure to a standard, not by feel
For software there is an ISO standard, SCI (ISO/IEC 21031:2024), which measures emissions per functional unit, for example per user. Large providers such as Google Workspace give their customers CO₂ reports. Use these values where they exist instead of estimating.
4 · Targets that grow with you
Substantiate first, then improve
Baseline assessment and profile first. Climate target and action plan come when your customers and team grow.
